This evening is an invitation from the acclaimed pianist Simon Miknius to embark on a musical journey spanning a wide period: from the depths of Romanticism to the explorations and discoveries of 20th century Modernism.
The first part of the concert will feature works by Schubert and Liszt - from intimate lyricism to theatrical, folk-inspired carnival revelry. The second part will feature Polish dances by I. J. Paderewski, fairy-tale and mystical images by M. Ravel and Sonata No. 2 by S. Prokofiev, combining classical form with the power of modernism.
This programme is composed as a kind of musical fresco - it combines the longing of Romanticism, flashes of Impressionism, the roots of national identity and the paradoxes of the modern musical palette. It is a recital not only for listening, but also for imagination, thinking and the heart.
