During the Advent season, as we approach the most beautiful holidays of the year, pianist Gabija Natalevičienė traditionally invites us to spend time with the music of Olivier Messiaen and his cycle "Twenty glimpses of the baby Jesus".
O. Messiaen's music concert will include fragments of the German composer Hans Otte's cycle "The Book of Sounds". The meditative, sound magic-oriented music will focus the listener on a deeper level of listening, directing the gaze towards the inner world and away from the external bustle.
Pianist Gabija, who has deeply explored the symbolism of O. Messiaen music, will perform four pieces from the cycle that are linked to the Christmas period, revealing his consistent storyline. This time, the Baby Jesus will be the focus of the Father's loving and admiring glance.
Listeners will also hear one of the most beautiful parts of the cycle, "The Virgin's First Communion", which captures the feelings of the Virgin with great sensitivity and delicacy - from silent love and excitement to the thunderous joy. The glimpses of the main characters in the programme will be crowned by a vibrant picture of the Christmas celebration.
