The legendary Lithuanian musician Vladimiras Čekasinas has created numerous jazz masterpieces and performed on jazz stages across many countries—not only as a member of the unique Ganelin Trio (GČT), but also as a composer and leader of various ensembles and projects.
On April 26, the traditional Sunday record listening session at the Music Magic Club will be dedicated to three vinyl records marking important stages in the musician’s creative biography.
In 1971, at the international festival for young musicians “Prague-71,” Čekasinas (who by then had already begun living in Lithuania and participating in GČT activities) won first prize and was given the opportunity to perform and record a program in Prague alongside musicians recognized in Eastern Europe at the time—Rudolf Dašek, Klaus Koch, Imre Moži, and Laco Tropp. This album, “Vladimir N. Čekasin & Přátelé – Setkání,” was released by Supraphon in 1973.
In 1984, the company “Leo Records Ltd.” in England released Čekasin’s album, “Nostalgia.” He was joined in the quartet by Oleg Molokojedov, Leonidas Šinkarenka, and Gediminas Laurinavičius.
A duo program featuring Vladimir Čekasin and Vladimir Tarasov was recorded at the “Ost-Loft Jazz Festival” held in China in 2018. The album “La Grande Sonata” was later released by Old Heaven Books.
