The program of pianist Matas Jankauskas’s recital, “As Night Falls,” is united by themes of longing, contemplation, and light. These themes manifest themselves in various ways in the music of different periods and composers—in the landscapes of M. K. Čiurlionis and L. Janáček, in Romantic drama, in Impressionist soundscapes, and in the sacred music of F. Liszt.
Lyricism and contemplation will intertwine with drama, while images of nature and distant lands will blend into the calm, contemplative atmosphere of the evening.
