Persian and Lithuanian Melodies: Intercultural Connections

Event was held on 2026-06-06
  • Dariush Rasouli, an Iranian performer of Persian music, has performed in Lithuania on numerous occasions and is therefore quite familiar to our audience. This time, together with Lithuanian musician Eirimas Velička, he will present an evening of Persian and Lithuanian melodies. The musicians will play traditional instruments: the Persian ney flute, the stringed instrument tar, and the Lithuanian kanklės, violin, and skudučiai. The program will feature Persian classical music, Persian folk melodies from the time of the Qajar dynasty, and Lithuanian folk songs transcribed by Liudvikas Rėza and Antanas Juška.

The performers are dedicating this concert to the 250th anniversary of the birth of folklorist and University of Königsberg professor Martynas Liudvikas Rėza and to the Year of the Kanklės in 2026.
