Improvisation Duo | Tomas Kutavičius and Arkadijus Gotesmanas

Renginys įvyko 2025-01-31
  • Improvizacijos meistrai: Tomas Kutavičius (fortepijonas) ir Arkadijus Gotesmanas (perkusija) pasidalins su klubo svečiais muzika, gimstančia čia ir dabar, spontaniško muzikinio dialogo metu.

Tomas Kutavičius - composer, pianist, improviser - combines jazz and classical music in his own way. Alongside jazz, academic music plays an important role - from vocal miniatures, choral and chamber works to symphonies.

As he was introduced in the LRT Klasika programme "Džiazo Pasažai": "Tomas Kutavičius is well known to the older generation of jazz audiences as a participant of prominent, historic projects. He played in the Sasnauskas Quartet, forged new genre boundaries with D. Naujokaitis and J. Milašius, "grazed the wind" with Vytautas Labutis, and has played with a wide range of Lithuanian and international jazz artists, from P. Vyšniauskas and V. Tarasov to K. Kugel and J. Haffner. However, composing, theatre music and academic music took Tomas Kutavičius out of the jazz field for almost two decades. Finally, with the recording of his solo CD "Ežeras", Tomas Kutavičius returned to jazz and improvisational music, back to the field of music where his career as a pianist began in 1985." Jazz Passages. Pianist and composer Tomas Kutavičius - 2023.04.16 - Radioteka - LRT

In the first part of the concert, jazz pianist and composer Tomas Kutavičius will perform improvisations inspired by the times and moods of the present on solo piano. In the second part, he will be joined by Arkadijus Gotesmanas.

"Arkadijus Gotesmanas is an inventive artist with a broad musical articulation, who finds it easy to play jazz from the swing or bebop era, but whose uniqueness shines through in free jazz and improvisational music. Alongside the standard drum kit, the stage is always filled with the most bizarre sets of cymbals and a wide variety of additional percussion instruments. Rattles, bells, chimes, bowls, bongos, buffalo drums, even a plastic bag lying on the ground can become another percussion instrument. A rich instrumental baggage, a vivid imagination and a great ability to improvise make every performance of this master an unforgettable sonic journey." says Vitalijus Gailius from the Lithuanian Music Information Centre.
