A special evening at the Magic of Music Club with saxophonist Kęstutis Vaiginis and pianist Joonas Haavisto from Finland!
The musicians, who have been playing together for more than 15 years, are well known on the international jazz scene. Kęstutis Vaiginis has played at the most famous festivals – North Sea Jazz, Tokyo Jazz, Jarasum Jazz, as well as the legendary Blue Note jazz club in New York. His list of collaborators includes such jazz legends as David Kikoski, Mike Stern, and Alex Sipiagin. Joonas Haavisto, a recognized Steinway Artist, has performed with his trio all over the world, from Helsinki to Tokyo, from Europe to New York.
In 2024, the duo released their debut album Moon Bridge, published by the prestigious Japanese label Eight Islands. The album has already received rave reviews: “Wonderful, full of great compositions and impeccable musicianship” (Jazzwise, UK), while Japanese magazine Jaz.In called the musicians “the heirs of Wayne Shorter.”
At the Magic of Music Club, they will present a program that combines Nordic harmonies, Baltic melancholy, and improvisational freedom, with original compositions by both musicians intertwined with newly interpreted works by Wayne Shorter and Billy Strayhorn.
