Don Cherry and Gato Barbieri are two artists whose music has become a symbol of freedom, fusion of exotic cultures and creative drive. Both sought the unheard and dared to break established standards.
Don Cherry was a pioneer of free jazz, an innovative trumpeter who went beyond traditional jazz to incorporate elements of music from Africa, India, the Middle East and other cultures. He was able to fuse different sounds into one unique soundscape, blending jazz improvisation with ritual melodies and rhythms.
Gato Barbieri is the embodiment of Argentine passion and rebellion in jazz. His music was not only a technical expression of virtuosity, but also a powerful emotional charge - often full of tension, melancholy or passion, reflecting the history and spirit of South America.
During the event we will listen to works by Gato Barbieri from the albums "Chapter One: Latin America" and "Euphoria", and Don Cherry's works from albums "Home boy" and "Tibet". We will also hear the track "Third Movement" from their collaborative album "Complete Communion".
