Founded in 1997 by the renowned violinist Gidon Kremer, the Grammy Award-winning chamber orchestra “Kremerata Baltica” is considered one of Europe’s most prominent international ensembles.
Since its founding, Kremerata Baltica has performed in more than 50 countries, given concerts in 600 cities, and staged more than 1,000 concerts worldwide. The orchestra helps share Gidon Kremer’s rich artistic experience with a new generation while also promoting and inspiring the musical and cultural life of the Baltic countries. “Kremerata Lituanica” is the “Lithuanian” branch of “Kremerata Baltica.” It is a 9-member ensemble that carries on the finest traditions of the renowned orchestra, creating conceptual and original programs.
The ensemble began its activities during the pandemic, when travel abroad with the full orchestra was severely limited. Since then, the ensemble has performed extensively in Lithuania and, in 2021, gave concerts in Austria, Hungary, Switzerland, Latvia, and Azerbaijan.
An important part of its work is collaboration with young Lithuanian composers. This ensemble stands out from other chamber orchestras with its distinctive style—the conceptual nature of its programs and their exceptionally masterful execution.
