An evening with masters of improvisation: Tomas Kutavičius and Arkadijus Gotesmanas
We invite you to a special concert where music is born in the here and now - in a spontaneous musical dialogue. Pianist Tomas Kutavičius and percussionist Arkadij Gotesman perform on stage without a preconceived plan - the sounds breathe, marvel at each other and search for unexplored spaces. The improvisation of piano and percussion is born in the moment, guided by an inner impulse, unpredictable encounters between sound and silence.
Tomas Kutavičius - jazz, academic music and improvisation
Composer, pianist and improviser Tomas Kutavičius combines the tools of jazz and classical music in a unique way. His work fuses jazz, academic music, choral, chamber and symphonic works.
In the LRT Klasika programme "Džiazo pasažai" T. Kutavičius was introduced as follows:
"Tomas Kutavičius is well known to the older generation of jazz audiences as a participant of prominent, historic projects. He played in the Sasnauskas Quartet, forged new genre boundaries with D. Naujokaitis and J. Milašius, "grazed the wind" with Vytautas Labutis, and has played with a wide range of Lithuanian and international jazz artists, from P. Vyšniauskas and V. Tarasov to K. Kugel and J. Haffner. However, composing, theatre music and academic music took Tomas Kutavičius out of the jazz field for almost two decades. Finally, after recording his solo CD "Ežeras", he returned to jazz and improvised music, to the field where his career as a pianist began in 1985."

Arkadij Gotesman - alchemist of sound
Arkadij Gotesman is an inventive percussionist whose musical language is characterised by a wide range of articulations. His mastery is reflected in free jazz and improvisational music.
According to the Lithuanian Music Information Centre:
"Alongside the standard drum kit, we will always see the most bizarre sets of discs on stage, as well as many additional percussion instruments. Rattles, bells, bowls, bongos, buffalo drums, even a plastic bag - everything can become part of Gotesman's music. His vast array of instruments, his imagination and his unique improvisational flair make every performance an unforgettable sonic journey."
