Jazz pianist Andrejus Polevikovas presents a two-part "Closer to Music" cycle dedicated to the legendary jazz pianist Chick Corea. The first evening will focus on the artist's life story, early work, and most famous compositions, which earned him worldwide recognition. The program will feature high quality recordings from his early projects, the repertoire of the legendary band Return to Forever, and other compositions that have inspired jazz lovers around the world for decades.
Chick Corea is one of the most prominent and influential jazz pianists, composers, and improvisers of the 20th and 21st centuries. He was one of the pioneers of the jazz fusion genre, collaborated with Miles Davis, and created bold experiments with electronics and complex rhythmic structures. During his lifetime, he released more than 90 albums and won 27 Grammy Awards! Songs such as Spain, Armando's Rhumba, and La Fiesta have become jazz standards and are still played on stages around the world.
The second evening, scheduled for early 2026, will be dedicated to the late stage of Corea's career – his acoustic projects and impressive duets with such greats as Gary Burton, Béla Fleck, Bobby McFerrin, and Herbie Hancock.
