Pianist Paula Bagotyriūtė and double bassist Gediminas Stepanavičius invite you to an evening of jazz music. The core of this duo’s artistry is improvisation, reflecting the performers’ spiritual state of mind in the moment.
"Our work is closely related to free improvisation, experimental, and contemporary music, but we consciously avoid stylistic boundaries and constantly maintain a fluid creative process," says pianist Paula Bagotyriūtė.
During the concert, Paula and Gediminas will pay special attention to the variety of timbres and consciously expand the usual musical boundaries of the piano and double bass. As the performers play, the piano will become an open sound system—meaning its strings will be manipulated by magnets and other objects to produce unexpected, multi-layered sounds that sometimes even resemble an orchestra. The double bass will function as an equal partner to the piano—not only complementing but also actively shaping the flow of the music.
