We invite you to rise above everyday life and immerse yourself in the timeless world of Indian classical music. You will hear a duet of bansuri flute (Adomas Šimkūnas) and tabla percussion (Tomas Drunga), accompanied by tanpura.
Several hundred years before Christ, the treatise Natyashastra described the Jati system, which is the root of Indian classical music, and in the 4th century treatise Brihaddeshi, we already find the term raga. This is the system of melodies and harmonies of this music. The Sanskrit word "raga" means "that which colors the mind." Many Western musicians and composers, such as John Coltrane, George Harrison, Philip Glass, and Gustav Holst, have drawn inspiration from this music with its rich history.
At the concert, you will hear melodious classical ragas, beginning with meditative calmness and gradually transforming into a lively and dynamic interplay of rhythm and melody.
