Closer to Music

Meetings With Jazz Greats | Elvis Costello

2026-06-11,  Thursday — 19:00
  • We continue the “Closer to Music” series “Meetings with the Jazz Greats” together with music historian and photojournalist Ludo Segers (Luxembourg/Canada). This afternoon, our focus will be on songwriter Elvis Costello, who has been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

Each event in the series begins with a brief introduction, helping the audience orient themselves within the programme and its musical context. The main emphasis then shifts to listening: carefully selected recordings of significance to jazz history are played on high-quality sound equipment — free from distractions.

The experience of being with the music is enriched by the host’s commentary and short personal anecdotes, revealing the circumstances behind the creation of the works, the relationships between musicians, and the details that usually remain behind the scenes.

    More information coming soon.

  • Event duration: 120 min.

CLOSER TO MUSIC events are not concerts, but rather evenings of encounters with music, led by interesting “companions” – musicologists, musicians, music lovers – who are fans of a particular genre, composer, instrument, performer, or country’s musical culture. They talk about the peculiarities of this music, demonstrate it live, and select characteristic recordings for listening. The recordings are reproduced in high quality from vinyl records or high-resolution digital files, allowing you to feel the specific emotional content, appreciate the nuances of the performance, and reveal the depths of this music.
