Saxophonist Vytautas Labutis and accordionist Andrius Balachovičius invite you to a lively musical evening, where they will present their programme “Reeds”, inspired by jazz, classical music, Lithuanian sutartinės and world music!
The duo, which formed in 2018, has already managed to organize numerous performances at various Lithuanian jazz festivals and concert venues, and their music has been repeatedly highly appreciated by international experts. The performers combine their jazz and accordion music experience into a program full of contrasts, which combines original authorial works and inventive arrangements of well-known compositions.
“There are almost no duets of this format in the world, only a few. Our duet – saxophone and accordion – is unique, and therefore the musical tasks are non-standard. What we do with Andrius is like a different space, other visions and possibilities,” says Vytautas Labutis.
The album's title "Reeds" reflects the duo's musical connection - on both the saxophone and the accordion, sound is created through reeds that are "vibrated" by the air current and the artist's skill. The album features eleven tracks - each of them opens up a unique musical landscape: from soft, intimate sounds to free jazz improvisations, from classical moods to world music rhythms.
